It was a Feng Shui kind of day. . .

Not sure what it was, but recently I've had the itch to rearrange some things, and after running it by Shane and the two of us discussing the possibilities, this past Sunday we both put our ideas to work and did the heavy lifting it required! It helped that recently we had a little "purging session" and did some Spring cleaning, by going through our wardrobes and bagging up everything we don't use to get rid of and donate.
My beloved old tattered Lifeguard sweatshirt didn't quite make it to the donation pile, but was sadly better suited for the trash : (

We have plans to lighten up our bedroom and add some different color accents-but for now we took down the dark brown curtain that was hanging, moved out the dark brown bookcase, moved in our desk and rearranged the furniture placing our bed next to our only small window and opportunity for natural light. It has already brightened up the room a ton, and has given the space a natural flow with added functionailty! Replacing the desk in the living room with the large bookcase will definitely be something to get used to, but it does open up the room a LOT, though the awkwardness of that particular wall is something we can't really get around as we attempt to make that open space more functional, its something we will have to deal with for now.
Here are the pictures of before and after

Living Room Before

and
After. . .
With the new bookshelf in the living room we were able to take all of our photo albums from the corner bookshelf that was being blocked by the couch and put them somewhere that will make the more readily accessible, which I am a big fan of. We definitely still have plenty of space for our growing collection of books.

Bedroom Before

and. . . .
After

We definitely have appreciated more functionality of the space in the bedroom-but the jury is still out on if it will be a permanent switch! Whether or not it will be, a change up is always nice and somehow a little furniture shifting does seem to offer up a new perspective. Looking forward to getting creative to come up with some affordable ways to remake the bedroom. In some ways it feels like we just moved in, but with the Summer just around the corner it hits me that we have almost been here a year! Where does the time go?!
