Okay, so we didn't actually move "up," but rather down, as in main level and right down the hill in the same apartment complex : ) But we did upgrade to a bigger apartment! Our one bedroom was perfect for us our first two years, but we felt like we needed a little more room as we looked towards the future, and decided we would really like to have an extra room in case friends or family were in town.
Once we returned from Chicago on the 8th we finished packing up and geared up for a long HOT HUMID move the following day.
We were able to get everything moved in the first day, but not without some major, and much appreciated, help from Garret Granberg, Tom Meeker, and Charles Edwards. We are so thankful for their help-they are not only Football Family, but brothers in Christ as well, and they burned some major calories putting in hard work for us on Monday afternoon in the hot Georgia sun.
Starting to look bare, as we position the heavy furniture for the trucks.
What used to be our bedroom.
I wish I had taken pictures of the apartment with just the boxes and heaps of stuff before unpacking, but here is a look at the mess about halfway through me unpacking everything.
Unfortunately, the timing wasn't that great. The day after we moved in Shane had a coaching retreat, but it motivated me all the more to make sure everything was in its place before he came home. I needed something to keep me occupied, since I was easily creeped out by our new emptyish apartment that didn't yet feel like home.
View from the front entry way
Here is the dining room all finished. A LOT more space then the last one-Shane is already talking about a bigger table-but this one will do just fine for now.
T.V. Room- the lighting isn't that great in any of these pictures because we have had nothing but hot sticky gloomy thunderstorm weather for the past week : (
The, much much bigger, kitchen
Please note the pantry door in the far left of the picture....what I was most excited about in the move!
View in our bedroom of the hallway door (to the right) and the bathroom door (to the left)
Our closet. . . exciting stuff I know.
Our bathroom-view from the bedroom side door.
Finished Bedroom-First priority.
Me practicing the lay out for the maps in the T.V. room.
Finito
Gloomy Gloomy Day....
Spare Room-Hard to see, but right now we simply have our desk, a side chair, and a night stand in there-definitely last priority, but the guest bed is being delivered Monday-so it should be ready soon!
Guest Bathroom (This one actually has a huge garden tub, but we preferred the location of the other bedroom for the master)
Spare Room Closet-haha- currently used to store all of Shane's Football and School boxes during the transition.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the tour : ) The layout is very similar to our other apartment so most of our stuff already had a predetermined spot : )
We were lucky enough to have our move in date pushed back 24 hours so they could replace all the carpet. It seems the previous owners had pets and did more damage than the manager thought. I was bummed to know that animals had been living in here peeing all over the place-but glad to have new clean carpet!!!!!
We look forward to all the guests that the Lord will bring through our doors to utilize our new space.
Today we took my car in for Round 2 of the repairs that it needed that I couldn't do while we were gone traveling. I just got a phone call and apparently I need new break pads as well. There is never a dull moment, but I am praying the Lord provides a way for us both to safely begin the school year with our vehicles!!!
We just took official GAC Football Coaching/Family Pictures earlier in the week and I will post them as soon as I can so you can all laugh at how bad they are- It was the the most humid day of the week and I'm pretty sure you can see lightning in the background of the field where we took them-haha!
Until then!
-M.W.
