We could NOT wait until Spring Break this year. Shane and I both have been struggling majorly with this seasons' early onslaught of pollen and allergens, and we not only needed some major rest and downtime, but we also were looking forward to the visit from my parents and two sisters (Chanel & Lorielle). I decided that since my Dad usually prefers packaged desserts as oppose to my baking that I was going to make one of his childhood favorites from scratch-The Twinkie!
First I had to create my own homemade molds using tin foil and a spice jar.
I got better as I went.
Creme Filling
Ready to bake. . .
Wallah.....now time to fill.
I like finding any excuse I can to use the Wilton decorating tools my parents got me for Christmas : )
All in all-next time I will most likely try a different recipe-but it was worth a shot !
. . . . . . . . .
Here are some pictures from their visit down to the ATL:
Chanel and Lorielle crashing on the couches
Shopping at the Mall of Georgia. . .

Waiting for our burgers. . .
We all left extremely full as usual

Saturday afternoon we visited the "World of Coca-Cola"
It was hot, the line was long, but at least we had good company.
Finally inside, but more lines in the lobby. . .
Checking out the Map. . .
Waiting. . .
Oh, why thank you sir. . .
Exactly what Shane needs after a hard days work. . . a nice cold. . . Coke.
I believe this is a vending machine from Tokyo
Mom liked this.
Le Francaise
The moment we had all been waiting for-the taste testing room; it is split up into different continental hubs with drinks labeled by country so you can get a taste of coke products from all over the world!
There were some volleyball tournaments going on in the city-so add multiple groups of hyper teenagers, plus the normal Saturday crowd in a taste testing room for sugary drinks and you have madness!
Some drinks scared me--If I couldn't' distinguish the flavor from the label-I stayed away.
Lorielle after her fix of Mr. Pibb Extra from ....North America of course : )
Shane checking out the flavors from Asia.
Hundreds of Coke bottles moved overhead to a conveyer belt at the exit where you picked up your own free souvenir bottle.

Checking out Coca Cola in Pop Culture and Art
This piece really made them think
On our way home and back to the burbs
Thanks for our complimentary cokes!
It went by in the blink of an eye but we were so grateful to actually get some time hanging out with everyone and just spending some laid back time together! We really can't wait to see everyone again (and have all of us together including Nicole and Adam; Danielle and Nick; and Roc, Byron, and the boys!!!!) We're looking forward to July when we visit Chicago for sure!
We had a great start to our Spring Break and can't wait to enjoy the empty schedule this next week up ahead leading to EASTER!
Looking forward to enjoying having Shane's grandparents and parents come visit this month as well. We are blessed!
