Shane & I decided to try and enjoy the outdoors on our day off--the humidity has finally subsided so we were able to survive the heat ( for a little bit ). We visited a local park and walked its trails.
Once we got home we made dinner together, Eggplant & Mushroom Lasagna-sloppy but very tasty.
This was a team effort and a success.
I can't say the same for the grilled polenta ( we were not fans ). *not pictured :)
We also decided to work on a little project. This is what we see every time we walk in our apartment door. We have been trying to figure out what to do with the space.
We bought this great mirror (on sale!), hoping to hang it in the entrance, only to be disappointed by the awkward placement of the alarm system-Ah!!!!
I was perusing the local antique store a couple weeks ago and saw a bunch of old window boxes-I thought it would work great because it would nicely fit over the alarm system and allow us to fill it with books and personal pictures to cover it up!
With a little soap, water, and furniture polish we cleaned it up while still retaining its worn character.
We are slowly working on what will fill its "panes".
To start I grabbed a few old books that represent us both. Football, Shakespeare, and a little philosophy for the both of us :)
This weekend Shane's parents come to visit--It is supposed to rain all weekend, but here that might mean a downpour for 10 minutes--We are planning on visiting a local farm and checking out their big range of produce as well as some homemade peach ice cream-hoping the weather cooperates. If not, no matter what we will end up spending our Saturday night on the edge of our seats cheering on Penn State as they play number 1 ranked Alabama!
Pictures to come!
