The daily grind has put a halt to my frequent musings and cataloging of newlywed happenings--no matter how trivial they might be.
These past few months have definitely been a test; a test of our love and patience for eachother, but ultimately a test of our trust in the Lord.
In the past 4 months we have gotten married, moved far from our loved ones to a strange place they call Georgia, both started new jobs (Shane starting 2, including starting a teaching certification program), we are building a new home, building our marriage, dealing with sickness, emotional breakdowns, disappointments, multiple car breakdowns, spending a small fortune (in relation to our own pockets) on fixing those repairs, facing the giant called "Student Loans," and all the while sadly leaving blessings at times unnoticed.
I was reminded recently that my list of disappointments pale in comparison to so many that have come before me and lived faithfully before the Lord. I was reminded of Job--and went back to recall what the Lord had to say to him after everything dear to him was taken away.
God gives Job no explanation, no "moral of the story," and certainly not "Job this is what I was trying to teach you...." He simply spends a handful of chapters reminding Job of who he is, he uses a sarcastic sort of rhetorical questioning to get his point across--but he sends the message nonetheless.
It reminded me of an Oswald Chambers devotional I once read where he discusses our desire to somehow justify and make peace with our suffering or circumstances by knowing just what it was that God was trying to teach us. Chambers concludes, that it is not about what God is trying to teach us, but more about who he is trying to make us.
God is looking for a faithful man(and woman), no matter what the circumstances-no matter what failed expectations may come-and at the end of the day we may not have a booming voice from heaven to remind us personally who the God of the universe is that allowed our day to happen, and allowed each breath we breathed--but thankfully we have his word and a lifetime of his faithfulness and provision to always fall back on.
Current Trivia
-Mt. View's FB season is coming to a close with only 2 more games left in the season
-Recently Shane and I ventured out to see the movie Life as we know it-I can't remember the last time we went to the movies and didn't regret the decision, but this movie was great, we laughed, we cried (well at least I did), and all in all really enjoyed the movie.
-My car is still making weird noises but we are praying it is nothing serious!
-Shane and I were at Walgreens-we decided to buy a candle since we completely burned through every one we had. When we got to the register the woman informed us of a section of candles that were on clearance for 1. 35 $ each! (size of a large yankee candle) We were so pumped! I felt like I got a small taste of what it must feel like to super coupon! haha not sure it was enough for me to commit, but its probably only a matter of time!
-I am going to be a Friend AUNT!!!!!!!!!!! : ) Lauren and Dan are 8 weeks along with little baby Meeh. So beyond excited for them and their families and can't wait for the little munchkin to arrive!
(Lo did you ever think you would be the first of Irving 712 to have a baby!!!......just one more reason for Shane and I to come to Cali to visit. . . as if we needed any more :) ! )
-Shane came home the other day and surprised me with Ray Lamontagne's new CD!!!! LOVED IT!
- Once Football is over Shane and I have committed to starting P90X-Lord help us!
- The Fall always brings new opportunities for cooking and baking.
We had friends over a couple weeks ago and I tweaked a gluten free box mix with some pumpkin pie filling, nutmeg, and a little homemade cream cheese frosting.

Shane's Personal Cupcake : )

Probably should have used more Pumpkin, but it was still a nice Fall treat.
- The cool weather is also a great opportunity for making homemade soup! Thanks to Racquel's recommended Cheddar and Broccoli Panera recipe it was a success.
