Projects: Passing the Time

I happen to be one of those people that likes to stay busy. Busy, might mean different things to different people, but if I've got a messy closet to organize or a pile of papers to shred I am a happy girl :)
Though Shane and I have a lot to still do in terms of the fun details of life such as sitting at the D.M.V. getting our cars re-registered in GA etc. There are still those days while Shane is coaching or in a meeting that I find myself creating things to do in order to stay busy.

This was my latest "thing." I was inspired by a picture in a design magazine and decided to put my own twist on it. Simply put, it is a jar filled with rolled up sheet music and song lyrics. I thought it would be a cute detail for the living room and decided to add some meaningful touches to it by adding lyrics that had some history with us, whether they were favorite songs, hymns, or even the song we were introduced to and first danced to at our wedding.

Here are some pictures of the processs :)

First I printed off sheet music, then soaked the paper in coffee to get an "aged" look.

Draining/Drying the papers on baking racks in the sink.

Drying. . . .

Still Drying . . .

Used Twine, old shoelaces, and some old ribbon to tie up the dried music sheets. . .

& a Hurricane . . .

  3. Nick Oates commented at church today that "everything they posts is like out of a magazine! I saw the banana bread and lemons...I wish I could eat them" I would have to agree with his statements. You 2 are so creative - did you ever make those old looking maps w tea bags or coffee for History class freshman/sophomore year? In
