First Time in the Saddle

Yo yo yo! This is Shane and I feel honored to enter my first post on this astonishingly well put together blog peice. My wife has certainly done a wonderful job. To those curious, all the great looking food you have seen on here, delicious! The marvelous apartment decor? Award winning! She has seriously done an outstanding job making our little place feel like it can be our home (she will also be ticked that I am gushing over her...haha).

Anyway, it's hard to believe that it has been three weeks here already. It has been a whirlwind for me with coaching, preparing to be a teacher, being a new husband, settling into a new apartment in a new part of the country, and just living in general.

Michele told you guys I would update you about the FCA Football Camp in particular and so I shall do just that. It was a 2 and a half day passing league (7 on 7...basically football without the lineman) camp with 40 of our (Mountain View HS) players and eleven other teams at University of West Georgia which is about 2 hours from where Michele and I live. Going into the weekend I was excited to put myself out there and really share the Gospel with our players as well as our coaches. I led our team "chapel" sessions both Thursday and Friday and the Lord really worked in some hearts. I was able to get a true sense for some of the personal needs on our team not only among the players but also the coaches. Seeds were planted in some hearts and I am anxious to see what the Lord has in store.

Overall the weekend was a success both spiritually and athletically. This coming season will be our first Varsity season and we will be competing in the state's largest and best football class 5A. We have a lot of work to do to compete at that caliber of play but considering our weaknesses it was good to see our team earn 8 wins, 1 loss, and 2 ties for the weekend. Our fall practices start tomorrow...and so starts my favorite time of the year...football season! It will be a lot of work but I truly can say I am doing the thing I love most...

Prayer Requests:
- The upcoming school year. It looks like Michele has some opportunities popping up but nothing locked down. Please pray for her continued patience as it can be very up and down and very frustrating. Also, it will be my first time as a teacher in a classroom while managing about 15 IEP's. I have a lot to learn! Pray that I will not stress out.
- For the players and coaches on our team. I have seen evidence that God has this group of men on the coaching staff together for a reason. We are praying that Christ might come to be glorified through our staff as some keep searching for truth!

We love and miss all you guys! Thanks for caring enough to check this blog out...you are all winners in my book...ha! peace out

-Shane
