You would think once you graduated from College gearing up for the first day of school would be over, not so. High school was no walk in the park, and why I have spent my post high school life pursuing getting back to that dreaded jungle of a place still puzzles me. Today I arrived at 6:15 to quiet hallways and darkened offices-but this was clearly the calm before the storm! With Mt. View being a new high school (this being its second year) there is a large amount of students transferring from other schools, this, and the fact that hundreds of students have waited to register for school and classes until this morning has made the adminstrative pulse race as they attempted to keep their heads on straight today. Though my job is to coordinate subs, on the first day of school, thankfully they don't need that service :), so I helped out with the registration process today-spending most of the day directing students acting as a buffer for the Dean, trying to communicate with parents that spoke almost no English at all along with spending hours working the copying machine printing off copies of utility bills, lease agreements, social security cards etc. Thankfully, the people I work with are great to be around, so all in all it was a great crazy day! Shane just texted me saying he is working on learning some of the ins and outs of putting together I.E.P.'s from his mentor teacher/fellow coach Derek. Even after practice a teacher's job is never done.
We will be sure to keep you all updated as the semester progresses. Aug. 20th the boys have a scrimmage and then the football season will be in full swing!
